Boats have been a source of great interest for me for as long as I can remember. Perhaps the genesis of this interest stemmed from my sister and my many visits to the U-505 at the Chicago Museum of Science growing up. Here you see us next to the U 505's stern torpedo room.
With the U Boats out of production I turned to Pocock's wooden boats as a coxswain at age 13 and a stroke at 16. After graduating from Dartmouth and Tuck School, I switched to a Garofallo single and sculled whenever my career in banking allowed. Upon my retirement and return to live Vermont, I built my own house to include a large shop area.
As it does for so many, retirement has become very busy. Besides my projects at Riggerous, I volunteer on Strafford's Planning Commission and Development Review Board, on the organizing committee for Row the Prouty and as a Mountain Ambassador at Killington. I am very active with Upper Valley Rowing Foundation and am an intense recreational sculler.
My newest commitment is at Klinger Engineering where I have progressed from apprentice to part time employee. There I've taught a few things and continue to learn as much as possible about composite repair.
